What is Collaboration?

We use the word all the time but what is it really?

Collaboration involves two or more people who come together with common interests to craft a shared aspiration or goal. The intent then is to share knowledge, talents, skills, and resources to achieve the shared goal(s), with each member of the collaboration contributing to everyone's overall success.

Productive collaboration requires shared leadership and accountability and the capacity of all players to assign work based on each member's abilities and assets. If the collaboration involves organizations, then the members of the collaboration must have the blessing and active support of their respective organizations to achieve results.
